About Us
On Point Auction Service LLC was built on the shared ideas and visions of Dakota Bockenhauer and Justin Doyle. While interning at the University of Wisconsin Agricultural Research Farm, Dakota and Justin quickly realized they had similar passions and dreams. Not only did they both have a strong interest in agriculture, but also aspired to become licensed auctioneers. This realization was seen as no coincidence to them, but rather a stepping stone in launching their careers in the auction industry.
As the two began to visualize and plan, their love and passion was soon shared amongst their wives. Gretchen Bockenhauer and Livia Doyle joined the planning process and became invested members in the business. With backgrounds in a variety of different areas, the members of On Point bring unique skills and knowledge to the auction scene.
In the summer of 2012, Dakota, Justin and Livia attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA. The three received extensive training in bid calling and marketing strategies, along with learning the rules and regulations of the auction industry.
On Point is excited to bring its experience and professionalism to the auctioneering world. With a commitment to exceptional service and client satisfaction, On Point has what it takes to help make any and every auction a success.
Our Mission
On Point Auction Service LLC offers its clients a high quality auction venue. In doing so, it strives to give its bidders and buyers the very finest items on the auction market today.
Our Team
Col. Dakota Bockenhauer, Auctioneer
Dakota spent many summers of his youth working in the local sale barn. It was here the rhythmic sound of the auctioneer consumed Dakota and inspired him to follow in this career path. In the summer of 2008, his dream was put into motion when he met Justin and Livia. However, it would take several years of planning to prepare for the launch that was soon to follow. Dakota attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering with Justin and Livia in the summer of 2012. After many hours of planning and paperwork, On Point Auction Service LLC was established and the rest was history! Dakota and his wife Gretchen and new baby daughter, Cora, live on a farm in Platteville, WI where they own and run a beef and sheep operation. Besides auctioneering and farming, Dakota is also a Service/Beef Specialist with Genex CRI and a licensed livestock judge.
Col. Justin Doyle, Auctioneer
Justin had a dream of becoming an auctioneer since his childhood. His family might say that he grew up in the local sale barn, where he carefully watched his great uncle, Jack Reynolds, auctioneer for much of his youth. In the summer of 2012, Justin began his first steps in turning his auctioneer dream into reality. Justin, alongside Dakota and Livia, attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering where he received extensive training on bid calling and the business of auctioneering. Shortly after, On Point Auction Service LLC was officially launched and they have been conducting auctions ever since! Justin and Livia married in the summer of 2011, and since have been blessed with two beautiful baby boys, Quayde and Gentry. Together they raise a cow/calf operation, primarily commercial Red Angus cattle. In addition to auctioneering and farming, Justin is an agriculture/tech ed educator in the Black Hawk School District.
Col. Livia Doyle, Auctioneer
Livia focuses much of her auctioneering expertise in the area of benefit auctions. Livia enjoys working with many nonprofit organizations, not just as the auctioneer, but also as a partner in helping to assist with the planning and promotions of their fundraising events. Livia received professional auctioneer training at the World Wide College of Auctioneering. Not only did Livia participate in classes where she learned about the auction industry and bid calling practices, but she also received her certificate in bilingual auctioneering where she learned basic bid calling techniques in Spanish. Livia and Justin married in the summer of 2011, and since have been blessed with two beautiful baby boys, Quayde and Gentry. Together they enjoy raising beef cattle and growing crops on their family farm. In addition to auctioneering and farming, Livia is a fourth grade teacher at Mineral Point Elementary School.
Gretchen Bockenhauer, Business Development Manager
Gretchen has always enjoyed managing projects, whether it is on the construction side or making a client’s goals become a reality. In the fall of 2005, Gretchen met Livia while attending college at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. A few short years later, they realized both of their lives and their significant other’s were about to take a journey together to something great. Gretchen focuses much of her expertise in the area of business management as On Point’s Business Development Manager. She handles the behind the scenes work ensuring everything run smoothly, as well as takes care of the monetary transactions and client's advertising needs. Dakota and Gretchen were married in the spring of 2011 and live on a farm in Platteville, WI with their new baby daughter, Cora. Together they own and run their beef and sheep operation. In addition to business management and farming, Gretchen is a Project Leader/Inspector for IIW, P.C. in Dubuque.
Melissa Doyle, Marketing and Communications Manager
Like her older brother, Melissa also spent a lot of her time at the local sale barn as a kid. With a passion for agriculture and a knack for business, she pursued a bachelor's degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics and Life Sciences Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She continued her education at UW, and in the spring of 2013 graduated with a master's degree in Life Sciences Communication, specializing in agricultural marketing, entrepreneurship and educational outreach. Melissa is responsible for making On Point "look good" and can usually be found in the registration trailer at auctions. As the Marketing and Communications Manager, she administrates the website and social media platforms, serves as the technology "guru" and helps with the creation and development of PR and advertising materials. Melissa currently resides in Mineral Point, WI and works for Wisconsin Farm Bureau as the District 3 Coordinator. She also does freelance work and is an active advocate for the agricultural industry.
